The Cyprus Vakıflar Bank will be donating ₺300,000 to the Cyprus Turkish Vakıflar (Foundations) Administration for its social responsibility project “Science Year”.
The head of the Vakıflar Administration İbrahim Benter said that the Cyprus Vakıflar Bank should set an example to all banks and businesspersons.
The “Science Year” project envisages the setting up of libraries and science labs at every school in the TRNC.
A protocol was signed on Thursday between the two institutions.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the General Director of the Vakıflar Administration İbrahim Benter highlighted the importance of raising the quality of education in the country.
“As the Vakıflar Administration, we have been providing serious support to education over the years. This includes university scholarships given to gifted students, repairs and maintenance at public schools as well as meeting the needs of students with special needs,” he said.
Also speaking at the ceremony, the General Manager of the Cyprus Vakıflar Bank Mustafa Cengiz Erçağ said that they were excited to be a part of such a project.
The head of the Board of Directors of the Vakıflar Bank Ercan İbrahimoğlu for his part said that they were allocating an important amount of money in the assistance fund to this project.
