Education Minister Çavuşoğlu evaluated his Ankara contacts to BRT

The Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu who is holding a series of contacts in Ankara evaluated his contacts to BRT.

The National Education Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu said that his first contact was with the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK) where they carried out technical studies on the problems experienced at TRNC universities.

Explaining that the goals and principles regarding the future of universities were put forward during the meeting, he said that with the demands of the universities, the quotas dropped by half from the previous year and 11 percent more quotas were allocated to the TRNC in addition to the completion of the quotas.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that this approach promised a positive future.

“Nobody should doubt that the agreement we reached to develop institutionalized relations with the Turkish Ministry of National Education, YÖK, YODAK and solve the problems faster by taking these relations to a higher level will bear fruit in the near future” he added.

Explaining that the problems the TRNC students experienced or will experience regarding their GCE A Level results were also discussed during the meeting, Çavuşoğlu said that these problems will be solved.

Explaining that they also visited the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM), Çavuşoğlu said that they had a sincere meeting with the Head of ÖSYM Prof. Dr. Halis Aygün regarding the students who take the exam.

Also providing information about the meeting with the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, he said “30 quotas were reserved for us for A Level scholarship points in line with the protocol signed with the Presidency three years ago. We requested the increase of this quota.”

Noting that an agreement was reached on the master and doctorate programs, Çavuşoğlu said “the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities will also give scholarships in these areas. A by-law study will be carried out and implemented in the coming days.”
