The leader of the National Unity Party (UBP) Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu stated that efforts to form a government have come to an end.
Speaking on a program on BRT, Sucuoğlu stated that the developments in regards to a government formation with the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) are being evaluated within the party and that a written response will be given to the CTP on Tuesday afternoon.
Noting that it will become clear on Tuesday whether a government will be formed with the Republican Turkish Party, Sucuoğlu said a National Unity Party, Democrat Party (DP) and Rebirth Party (YDP) coalition government formation is the second option for a government.
Meanwhile the leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman said that his party informed the National Unity Party regarding their views of forming a coalition government with them.
Evaluating the latest developments that have taken place to the BRT, the CTP leader Erhürman said that it is not possible for the CTP to give up on its vision and principles.
He said that once the UBP has completed its evaluation, if they decide to proceed on this path then further negotiations can take place between the two parties.
The leader of the Democrat Party, Deputy Prime Minister Fikri Ataoğlu who also evaluated the issue said that his party was open to all alternative government models.
He also stated that should the Democrat Party remain in the opposition position, it will try to contribute to the solution of the problems in the country.
He also pointed to the importance of the government formation process being completed as soon as possible.
The leader of the People’s Party (HP) Kudret Özersay said that a two party coalition government formed by the National Unity Party-People’s Party could be more harmonious and longer lasting.
In his evaluation to the BRT, Özersay reminded that the government was established with 27 deputies in the recent past and there had been no problems in the parliament on convening meetings.
He emphasized that the issue is not a matter of numbers, but of will and intention.
Lastly the leader of the Rebirth Party Erhan Arıklı in his evaluation to the BRT said that his party was waiting for the outcome of the National Unity Party Republican Turkish Party talks.
Arıklı stated that a serious evaluation was made on the government program presented to them by the UBP, which they welcomed as quite exciting.
“A UBP-CTP government made up of 42 deputies would be exciting and we would support this government, if only it could be realized,” said Arıklı.
