Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, who is in Washington D.C. for contacts met with the Assistant Undersecretary for Europe and Eurasia of the US Department of State, Erika Olson.
The foreign minister had passed onto the US capital following his contacts in New York on the sidelines of the 77th UN General Assembly.
According to a written statement released by the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, Ertuğruloğlu made evaluations on Cyprus and gave information on the current position of the Turkish Cypriot side during his meeting with the US Assistant Undersecretary for Europe and Eurasia Erika Olson.
Ertuğruloğlu, who came together with the Turkish press on the same day, also attended a dinner given in his honour by the Turkish Ambassador to Washington Murat Mercan on Wednesday night.
As part of his other contacts in Washington D.C., Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu attended a roundtable meeting on the Cyprus issue held at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy – one of the reputable think-tanks of the US.
Minister Ertuğruloğlu discussed various aspects of the Cyprus issue and highlighted the benefits of a two-state solution on the island during the meeting which was attended by members of the diplomatic corps in Washington, representatives of the US State Department and Washington Institute researchers.
Ertuğruloğlu who completed his contacts will leave Washington Thursday evening and return to the TRNC.
