The newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu is continuing to carry out protocol visits in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Feyzioğlu who presented his letter of credentials to President Ersin Tatar on Monday laid wreaths at the Atatürk Monument, the tomb of the late Turkish Cypriot leader Dr Fazıl Küçük and the tomb of the late founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Rauf Raif Denktaş yesterday.
The new Turkish Ambassdor to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu carried out a number of visits yesterday in accordance with state tradition, paying his respects to the late Turkish Cypriot leader Dr Fazıl Küçük and the tomb of the late founding President of the TRNC Rauf Raif Denktaş.
Following a wreath laying ceremony at the Atatürk Monument, Feyzioğlu visited the tombs of Dr Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Raif Denktaş to pay his respects.
Speaking to reporters following his visits, the Turkish ambassador said that he was happy and proud to be in serving in the TRNC.
Reminding that he had presented his letter of credentials to the president on Monday, Feyzioğlu said that the TRNC and Türkiye were one and united.
He also said that sacrifices and contributions made by the late Turkish Cypriot leader Dr Fazıl Küçük and the late Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş for the Turkish Cypriot people could never be forgotten.
“Our duty is to be worthy of their efforts and sacrifices, to walk in the path of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and our leaders who came after him,” Feyzioğlu added.
Pointing out that the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was the founding president’s greatest dream, the Turkish Ambassador Metin Feyzioğlu said that the TRNC was already an independent and sovereign state according to the Law on States.
He however described the non-recognition of the TRNC as a “great injustice.”
Feyzioğlu also described the admission of the TRNC as an observer to the Organisation of the Turkic States a great victory for the Turkish Cypriot people and the Turkish nation.
He pointed out that this victory had only been made possible through the efforts of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Meanwhile, the Turkish ambassador and his wife were received by President Ersin Tatar and First Lady Sibel Tatar at the presidential palace on Tuesday.
