Fire Brigade Week is being celebrated for the first time in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

The week which is being organized by the TRNC Police General Directorate and the Fire Brigade Directorate, started with a cortege held at Dereboyu in the capital Lefkoşa.

Fire Brigade Week is being celebrated for the first time this year between September 25-October 1 by the General Directorate of Police.

The week-long celebrations, which started with a cortege at the Mehmet Akif Avenue in Lefkoşa will continue with activities aimed at raising awarness and informing the public on fire hazards and precautions.

Alongside the General Director of Police Ahmet Soyalan, police officials from the districts also attended the event.

The Security Forces Command band gave a short concert after the cortege followed by a speech by the Chief of the Fire Service Ramadan Gürpınar

“In line with the Fire Brigade Week our staff will carry out a series of activities between September 25 and October 1. Fire training will be given at institutions and organizations in order to inform and raise awareness of the public. In order to raise awareness, blood will be donated at our Lefkoşa fire department to meet the increasing need for blood,” Gürpınar said.
