An ICD or implantable cardioverter defibrillator was inserted into former President Derviş Eroğlu’s heart, who was being kept under observation at the Near East University Hospital due to complaints related to high blood pressure.
In a statement made by the hospital, it was stated that the procedure was performed to slow down Eroğlu’s heart rhythm.
The operation was completed successfully and the former president is doing well.
Former president Derviş Eroğlu who went to the Near East University Hospital with complaints of high blood pressure and brief loss of consciousness on July 3 was being kept under observation.
According to a statement made by the hospital, the head of the Near East University Hospital’s Cardiology Department Prof. Dr. Hamza Duygu and Prof. Dr. Levent Cerit performed the operation that took 40 minutes.
Prof. Dr. Hamza Duygu stated that Dr. Derviş Eroğlu was given an ICD for protection, after a decrease in his heart rhythm and tachycardia attacks were detected.
Stating that Eroğlu’s post-procedure controls are good, Prof. Dr. Duygu said, “We are following our President Dr. Derviş Eroğlu’s condition and hope to discharge him in a few days time.
