The General Secretaries of the National Unity Party (UBP), the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and the Democrat Party (DP), all of which have seats in the Republic’s Assembly, evaluated the results of the local elections.
The General Secretary of the UBP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu told BRT that his party had been successful in winning six municipalities and having received 41% of overall votes cast showed that the UBP was still the first party.
Evaluating the results of Sunday’s local elections on BRT, the General Secretary of the National Unity Party Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu said that a more detailed evaluation of the election will be held in the coming days.
“We are happy that the election took place in a democratic atmosphere. May the election results benefit all,” he said, adding that the UBP had won six municipalities whilst the mayor of Tatlısu, who had been endorsed by the coalition’s alliance, had also been re-elected.
“We were also successful in one of the independent candidates as well. We received 41 % of the overall votes; this shows that the UBP is the first party,” he added.
Hasipoğlu also said that they were surprised with the outcome in some areas but that overall they were pleased with the results.
“We are considering making changes to our party bylaws once the discussions on the debate are completed. We will enter a serious reform process within the party,” the UBP General Secretary said.
