The EU Commission has once again lost its neutrality.
While the commission has started working with the Greek Cypriots regarding the sale of hellim after its registration, it is completely ignoring the Turkish Cypriots.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Energy Şahap Aşıkoğlu in a statement to BRT said that South Cyprus did not comply with the agreement reached for the simultaneous sale of hellim by the two sides on the island and that the EU Commission has completely ignored this issue.
He reiterated once again that the European Commission is mistreating the Turkish Cypriot people.
Aşıkoğlu said, “If we cannot raise our voices with all our institutions and organizations and make it heard in Brussels, we will no longer be able to sell hellim. This will put us at risk of getting into serious economic problems.”
Emphasizing that while the assigned institution appointed by the EU Commission does not work with North Cyprus on the preparation of hellim for sale, the work in South Cyprus is at the point of completion and this is unacceptable.
Stating that hellim is the most important export item in the TRNC, Aşıkoğlu said that if only South Cyprus can sell hellim in the future, the TRNC economy will be hit hard.
