In class education continuing at schools

The Ministry for National Education and Culture announced once again that in class education is continuing at schools that operate under the Ministry.

Reminding that the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases had not taken a decision to suspend face-to-face education and switch to remote education, the Ministry of National Education and Culture announced that in class education will continue as planned.

Meanwhile, the Minister of National Education and Culture Olgun Amcaoğlu criticized the request by trade unions to switch to remote education, particularly when children did not have the luxury to miss out on in-class schooling.

Speaking on BRT on Monday, Amcaoğlu said that the positivity rate at schools was 1.2 which was why it was not reasonable to send 55,000 students home.

“We are temporarily shutting down classrooms where case numbers are high, following protocol and continuing with in-class education,” he said.

The education minister said that it was wrong to demand this at a time when other sectors remained opened.

He also pointed out that not all schools were equipped to switch to remote education and that a tender was in process to complete the technological infrastructure of 30 schools.
