The leader of Turkey’s Saadet Party Temel Karamollaoğlu on Monday was in the country to attend the celebrations held to mark the 38th anniversary of the establishment of the TRNC.
Karamollaoğlu was received by President Ersin Tatar and the Speaker of Parliament Önder Sennaroğlu separately.
Speaking during the visit President Ersin Tatar drew attention to the Turkish Cypriot peoples’ struggle for existence on the island and reminded that peace had come with the Turkish Peace Operation.
Underlining that there are two separate states and two separate people on the island, the President said that a possible agreement can only be based on the cooperation of two sovereign equal states.
He said the only goal of the Greek Cypriot side who are insisting on a federation model is to tear Turkey away from Cyprus.
Emphasizing that great struggle’s were made for the TRNC to develop in every field, Tatar added that the TRNC will protect its rights and interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Karamollaoğlu for his part touched upon the independence and recognition of the TRNC and called on the entire Islamic world for their support.
