Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRTK) has taken another step for private TV channels in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to be watched all over the world without the need for a satellite.

The new generation internet-connected TV’s called Smart TV’s, which will have 10 channels, will be broadcast to the whole world via the internet.

With the Smart TV applications to be prepared, it will be possible to watch private channels in our country, on 2016 TV models and advanced television models that are Smart TV’s, without the need for an additional device, thanks to the internet.

This project, prepared by the Corporation was introduced to the public today.

Speaking during the promotional event Bayrak Radio Television Corporation Director Meryem Çavuşoğlu Özkurt stated that these projects were carried out to contribute to the broadcasting sector in the TRNC.

Özkurt also underlined that this project is a gift from BRT to private channels in the country.

“Since 2016, we have thought about what we can do for private TV channels in the TRNC. Soon we will be introducing you to a popular platform that we will be engaging in. Our aim is to increase our broadcasts and to provide new alternatives. We will enable everyone to access TRNC channels through Smart TV’s.”

One of the technical architects of the project, BRTK External Publications Manager Ali Kurdoğlu for his part noted that they were at the end of the project, which they had started two years ago, and have begun test runs.

“With this project, we will broadcast 10 channels to the whole world” said Kurdoğlu.

Noting that the Cyprus smart TV package will work on all smart TVs and Android TVs like other digital platforms, Kurdoğlu said that the application is not only limited to TV’s, but can also be used by downloading the application on smart phones and tablets.
