President Ersin Tatar will be attending a reception this evening hosted by the UN at the Ledra Palace Hotel in the buffer zone in Lefkoşa.

The reception at 7 pm will also be attended by the Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades.

Both accepted the invitation of the new UNSG’s Special Representative Colin Stewart who said on Friday that it is an informal social event without an agenda.

Stewart had his first separate meetings with the two leaders on Friday.

Tonight’s event will be the first time the two leaders will be getting together since their last meeting held in the presence of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York on September 27.

Due to the pandemic, the reception will be held with limited participation.

Besides the two leaders, Tatar’s Special Representative Ergün Olgun and the Greek Cypriot negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis as well as heads of the Technical Committees of both sides will attend the event.
