Minister Atun calls on Islamic countries to cooperate with TRNC

The Minister of Economy and Energy Sunat Atun attended the 7th World Halal Summit and 8th Organisation for Islamic Cooperation Halal Expo held in Istanbul.

Delivering a speech at the opening of the event, Minister Atun called upon Muslim countries to cooperate with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

“We want to establish stronger, more lasting and sustainable economic, social and commercial relations with Islamic countries,” he said.

This year’s summit is being held under the theme of: ‘’ New Era & New Normals: Necessity of Halal Production and Consumption’’.

The event is organized by Discover Events on behalf of the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) and the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC).

Listing tourism, higher education and agriculture as the strongest economic sectors in the TRNC, Atun said that efforts were also underway to develop the health and industry sectors.

The summit offers a rich programme of inspiring keynote addresses, interactive panel sessions featuring halal sector pioneers and other stakeholders to debate challenges and opportunities about the halal sector as well as scientific presentations and seminars.
