The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dursun Oğuz announced on Tuesday that a scientific study has started on the burned forest areas.

The Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister Dursun Oğuz came together with the members of the Agriculture Faculties of the European University of Lefke and the Cyprus International University regarding the burned forest areas.

Ministry officials, Forestry Department Engineers, the Dean of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies of the Cyprus International University Prof. Dr. İbrahim Baktır and the Dean of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies of the European University of Lefke Prof. Dr. Mehmet Atilla Aşkın attended the meeting.

Minister Oğuz said that scientific studies had been initiated on the rehabilitation of burned forests and the protection of forest areas.

Noting that they will meet with other stakeholders and non-governmental organizations in the coming days, he said that they will continue to work on forest areas.

Oğuz also added that a report will be prepared in the light of scientific data on the burned areas.
