Multiple tariff system for electricity

The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) is reinstating the multi-tariff system as of the beginning of next month, it announced on Thursday.

The new system will be optional for consumers.

The decision and the new tariff prices were published in the official gazette.

The return to the multi-tariff system in electricity is set to begin as of Tuesday, November 1, the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority or KIB-TEK announced on Thursday.

Consumers who wish to switch from the single tariff to the multiple tariffs will need to apply to KIB-TEK or their regional offices as of Monday, October 24.

Anyone wishing to remain on the single tariff may do so if they wish.

Households or businesses with solar panels will not be able to benefit from the new tariffs.+

Consumers, should they choose to switch to the multi-tariff system during the ‘winter’ period which is between October 16-May 15 will pay ₺3.32 per kWh between 7am and 5pm, ₺4.6 per kWh during peak hours from 5pm to 10pm and ₺2.19 kWh from 10pm to 7am.
