New adjustments to Covid-19 measures
Date Added: 03 March 2022

The Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases announced the latest adjustments to measures aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19.

According to the latest decisions, fully vaccinated individuals will no longer need a negative PCR or rapid test to cross through crossing points.

The new rules took effect as of this morning.

According to an announcement by the health ministry, a PCR or rapid negative test will not be required for persons fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca, Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines as of 14 days after their second dose.

The validity period for these vaccines is considered to be until seven months since the administration of the last dose of the primary vaccination or for those who have received a booster shot.

For persons fully vaccinated with Sinovac, Sinopharm, Sputnik and Johnson & Johnson vaccines as of 14 days after their second dose (single dose in the case of Johnson & Johnson), the vaccine validity period for these vaccines is considered to be until three months since the administration of the last dose of the primary vaccination or for those who have received a booster shot.

A seven-day negative PCR or rapid test is still required for children between 5 and 11 years old, unvaccinated high-school students and persons residing in Kato Pyrgos.

A 72-hour negative PCR test or 48-hour rapid negative test is required for unvaccinated persons, 12 year olds and above and vaccinated persons who have not received a booster dose following the expiration of vaccine validity.

According to changes introduced to the contact protocol at schools, pupils who have come into contact with a student or students who have tested positive will undergo PCR testing and isolate until their test results come back.

The contact tracing team will decide on the duration of the pupil’s isolation period informing the school of its decision. Students who test negative will continue to attend classes by wearing masks and without coming into contact with other classrooms.

Teachers who come into contact with a student or students who test positive will continue to teach in classrooms. These teachers will be required to monitor themselves for symptoms and carry out a rapid test on day 5 after coming into contact with the positive case.

Unvaccinated teachers or teachers whose vaccine validity has expired will be required to isolate for seven days and carry out a rapid test on day 7 of their isolation. Should such persons show symptoms, a PCR test will be required.

Students or teachers who test positive for Covid-19 will be required to isolate for seven days. A PCR test will be carried out on day 7 of their isolation. The isolation period will be extended three more days should the person continue to test positive on day 7, ending on day 10.
