New deputies will be sworn in on Monday

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’s 10th term deputies will be sworn in on Monday the 7th of February.

In accordance with the Internal Regulations of the Republic’s Assembly, the first meeting will be chaired by the oldest member of the assembly Ünal Üstel, the National Unity Party deputy.

Until the Speaker of Parliament is elected Ünal Üstel will serve as the ‘Interim Speaker’.

The two youngest deputies, National Unity Party deputy Emrah Yeşilırmak and Republican Turkish Party deputy Ongun Talat will serve as temporary clerks until the council clerks are elected.

The National Unity Party won 24 seats, the Republican Turkish Party won 18 seats, the Democrat Party won 3 seats, the Peoples Party won 3 seats and the Rebirth Party won 2 seats in the 50 seat Republic’s Assembly.

President Ersin Tatar revealed that he will appoint the leader of the National Unity Party Faiz Sucuoğlu with establishing the new government on Tuesday.
