President Ersin Tatar’s Special Representative Ergün Olgun met with the Russian Federation’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Anna Evstigneeva in New York.
Olgun briefed the Russian ambassador at the meeting held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on the latest confidence-building proposals made by the Turkish Cypriot side.
The President’s Special Representative Ergün Olgun informed Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Anna Evstigneeva that a new negotiations process in Cyprus can only be possible with the recognition of the Turkish Cypriot people’s sovereign equality and equal international status.
Olgun also briefed the Russian ambassador on the six cooperation proposals presented to the Greek Cypriot side via the UN Secretary-General.
The two also discussed regional developments as well as ways of improving bilateral relations.
The Coordinator in charge of the Bicommunal Technical Committees Güneş Onar, Special Advisor Osman Ertuğ and the third secretary from the TRNC’s Washington Representation Denil Ertuğ were also present at the meeting.
