Ozanköy Martyrs were commemorated with a ceremony on Tuesday morning.

State, government, military officials and civilian staff as well as families of the martyrs attended the ceremony held in Ozanköy.

Ali Mehmet, Barut Kaşıkçı, Nuh Ahmet, Necmi Ali Kaya, Halil İbrahim Recep and Mustafa Hasan Yavaş who had been martyred between 1963-1974 were remembered with a ceremony held in front of the Ozanköy Martyrs’ Monument.

The Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre, Girne District Governor Sinan Güneş, Colonel Ahmet Tümay from the Cyprus Turkish Peace Force Command, Deputy Commander of the Security Forces Command Brigadier Commander Kadir Bayraklı, Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü, representatives of political parties, military officials and civilian staff as well as relatives of the martyrs attended the ceremony.

Following the observance of a minute’s silence, the firing of shots in tribute and the hoisting of flags to the Turkish national anthem prayers and poems were recited for the five martyrs.
