The General Secretary of the National Unity Party (UBP) Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu said that the upcoming visit to the European Parliament (EP) by a parliamentary delegation after a three-year break was important.
He said that their aim was to put relations with the EU back on track, basing it on fair grounds in harmony with the Turkish Cypriot side’s new policy.
Speaking on BRT on Monday, the UBP General Secretary Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu said that the upcoming visit to Brussels following a three-year break due to the pandemic was important, particularly in establishing relations with the EU on fair grounds, in line with the Turkish Cypriot side’s new policy on a just and equal level.
He reminded that relations between the TRNC and the EU still continued and that the bloc had yet to fulfil its promises to the Turkish Cypriot people.
“There is a serious mistake on the EU’s part concerning the Direct Trade Regulation,” said Hasipoğlu, stating that the EU was adopting a one-sided and biased stance in favour of the Greek Cypriot side.
The UBP general secretary said that the Greek Cypriot administration’s greatest fear was the international recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and the upgrading of its status.
“Fear is useless to death. We shall continue our struggle on the basis of our new vision and policies. We shall explain our new policy to the EU,” he said.
