The acting President and Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre said on Tuesday that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Türkiye had a say in the Eastern Mediterranean and that they will continue to defend their rights over the region’s hydrocarbon reserves.
Töre’s remarks came in a written statement issued following the launch of operations by Türkiye’s 4th drilling ship, the Abdulhamid Han.
Expressing the hope that the operations to be carried out by Abdulhamid Han drilling ship over the next three months in the name of protecting the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people in the Eastern Mediterranean, the acting President and Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre said that the TRNC had a say in the region thanks to the joint and determined stance displayed with Türkiye.
“Motherland Türkiye has created an important fleet capable of conducting seismic surveys and exploration activities within the borders of the Blue Homeland which is protected by the Turkish navy. Our efforts to explore new natural gas reserves in the region have been strengthened with the newest addition to the fleet which consists of the Fatih, the Yavuz and the Kanuni,” he said.
