Personnel who have working for the Committee for Missing Persons in Cyprus for ten years and over were awarded service shields by President Ersin Tatar.
Addressing the ceremony on Thursday, President Tatar noted that the CMP is carrying out important and difficult research to determine the fate of the missing persons on the island.
Speaking during the award ceremony, President Tatar said that he was following the work being carried out by the Committee on Missing Persons closely.
Noting that there were still many Turkish Cypriots who were missing, Tatar said, “This is a difficult task. You are carrying out your duties fully aware of challenges this line of work brings with it. I thank all the personnel who are making a great effort.”
The President also expressed the hope that all missing persons will be found soon.
The Turkish Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons Hakkı Müftüzade for his part said the committee which became a bi-communal committee in 2006 was continuing its work since then to locate, exhume and identify the remains of all those who had gone missing between 1963-1974.
Referring to the difficulty of the task, he said determination, faith and patience were necessary to carry out this work.
