Health Minister Ali Pilli stated that although the fight against COVID-19 is continuing in the country, important developments have taken place at hospitals throughout the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

He noted that devoted healthcare professionals are continuing to work night and day in the fight against the pandemic and surgeries are being carried out successful.

For the first time in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus the TriClip procedure was carried out on Dr. Münür Hüdaverdi who had previously undergone open heart surgery.

The TriClip procedure repairs the tricuspid valve without the need for open-heart surgery. The device is delivered to the heart through the femoral vein in the leg.

Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital Cardiology Specialist Dr. Eser Varış and his team together with the support of the specialist doctors from Turkey carried out the operation successfully and reported that Dr. Hüdaverdi is in good health.

Health Minister Pilli stated that Dr. Hüdaverdi’s health condition was extremely well and that the operation was very successful adding, “Our people should continue to trust our doctors.”
