Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu on Monday announced that the government will be carrying out payments this week before the New Year.

In a press conference, Sucuoğlu said that pensioners would be receiving their pensions on Tuesday while public sector employees would be getting their December salaries on Thursday.

He also said that a discount could be made to fuel prices if the downward trend in the value of foreign currencies against the Turkish Lira continued.

The prime minister said that some firms had already started lowering their prices as the Lira bounced back against foreign currencies.

Sucuoğlu added that he expected prices to go down as the Turkish Lira regained its value and that the economic crisis currently being felt by everyone will slowly subside.

He also said that the bicommunal committee on health was reviewing the covid test requirement for crossings between the north and south of the island.
