Prime Minister Ersan Saner on Thursday received the visiting delegation from the Turkish Mukhtars Federation.

Speaking during the visit, the prime minister highlighted the importance of the cooperation that existed between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Saner said that mukhtars were an important component of local administrations as they had direct contact with the public, listening and conveying their problems to higher levels of administration.

“Even though the TRNC and Turkey are two separate states, there is a special bond that exists between the two countries. This relationship is like no other. The TRNC always supports the rights and interests of the Turkish nation,” he said.

Saner also pointed out that the TRNC had much to gain from Turkey’s experience, particularly when it came to local administrations and e-state services.

“We have laid the foundation of the e-state project. Work is progressing swiftly. We launched e-kapı (e-gate) as soon as we came to office. I hope we shall be offering the same services you mukhtars in Turkey provide to the public,” he said.

Also touching upon the Blue Homeland doctrine, Prime Minister Ersan Saner said that their two countries were determined in protecting their rights and interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.

He pointed out that the Turkish navy had successfully chased off a Greek Cypriot exploration vessel trying to survey an area within Turkey’s continental shelf.
