The leader of the National Unity Party (UBP), Prime Minister Ersan Saner on Sunday said he did not expect any outcome from the trilateral meeting to be held between the UN Secretary-General and the two leaders on Monday because of the Greek Cypriot side’s intransigent stance.

Saner, in a written statement said that his government fully supported President Ersin Tatar and his vision for a two-state solution in Cyprus.

“We are determined and we shall not take a step back from our new vision. We shall continue to give our full support to President Ersin Tatar,” he said.

Prime Minister Saner said that the Greek Cypriot side had once again revealed its true intentions of going back to the 1960 constitutional order with the Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades’ speech at the UN General Assembly (UNGA).

“I would like to ask Anastasiades was it not the Greek Cypriots who had used the 1960 Republic of Cyprus as a stepping stone to achieving their goal of ENOSIS (union with Greece), who had proposed to introduce 13 amendments to the constitution and forced out the Turkish Cypriots from the state apparatus through arms when they rejected these proposals?” he asked.

Saner said that the Cyprus Problem will remain unresolved as long as the UN and the international community continue to ignore the realities on the island.

The prime minister said that the Turkish Cypriot people will continue on their path with the support of motherland Turkey.
