Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu is carrying out his first visit abroad since assuming office to the Turkish capital Ankara.
As part of his two-day visit, Sucuoğlu will be received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan this afternoon.
He also met with the Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay this morning.
Relations between the two countries, the Cyprus Issue and the TRNC’s economy were among the topics discussed at the meetings.
Prime Minister Sucuoğlu’s first stop after arriving in Ankara, as is customary by all visiting TRNC state and government representatives was Anıtkabir, where the founder of modern day Turkey Mustafa Kemal Atatürk lies.
As part of his contacts on Wednesday, the Prime Minister also visited the TRNC embassy in Ankara.
The TRNC Ambassador to Ankara Kemal Köprülü briefed the prime minister on the work carried out by the embassy.
Speaking earlier at Ercan Airport before departing for Turkey, Sucuoğlu said that the TRNC’s 2022 budget will be the highlight of his discussions.
“We shall be discussing the TRNC’s economic situation, the pandemic and inflation. We will probably be requiring an additional budget,” he added.
Sucuoğlu expressed his belief that discussions will continue after the general elections to be held on January 23.
