PM Sucuoğlu met with TRT Deputy Director General Öymez

Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu underlined the importance of TRT and BRTK in strengthening the humanitarian and cultural ties between Motherland Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot people.

Meeting with the Turkish Radio Television (TRT) Deputy Director General Hasan Öymez and the TRT Lefkoşa Representative Sefa Karahasan, Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu stated that the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have a common destiny and future in this region.

Noting that there have been strong ties between the two corporations for years, Sucuoğlu pointed out that BRT, with its broadcasts, is an institution that is watched by people both in the TRNC and Turkey.

He emphasized that it is of great importance for the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot People that TRT increases its contributions in the country.

Explaining that TRT also plays a vital role in promoting the country’s tourism sector in Turkey, Sucuoğlu said, “We may be two separate states but we are one nation”.

He also drew attention to the fact that the TRNC’s geostrategic importance in the region has grown with the discovery of hydrocarbon resources in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Blue Homeland doctrine.

Stating that the Republic of Turkey and the TRNC have a common destiny and future in this region, Sucuoğlu said that the common destiny of the people living in the TRNC and Anatolia will last forever.

TRT Deputy General Manager Hasan Öymez for his part stated that as TRT, they attached great importance to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and that they were seeking ways of enhancing cooperation between their respective state broadcasting corporations.

Noting that they upgraded the status of their office in the TRNC by appointing a representative, Hasan Öymez emphasized that the developments in the TRNC will be given more coverage in the Turkish media from now on.
