Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu said on Monday that the government programme will be one that is realistic and which includes steps that need to be taken.
Speaking on BRT, Sucuoğlu said that the new five-year government will be ready by Wednesday.
“It doesn’t have to be a hundred pages but it needs to be of substance. Many of our colleagues have already carried out handover ceremonies at various ministries and are carrying out work,” he added.
Pointing out that the new government’s priority as he mentioned before will be the economy, the prime minister said that they were expecting an influx of tourists this summer.
“The wheels of the economy have slowly started to turn. We are expecting a flow of hot cash and investments in the year ahead,” he said.
Sucuoğu however said that it could take several months before they could see substantive results.
Pointing out that among the government’s projects included the creation of a new airline which would lower ticket prices, Prime Minister Sucuoğlu said that an investor from Turkiye was seriously looking into the issue.
Asked to comment about his earlier remarks that there would be changes in the cabinet over the course of the next five years, Sucuoğlu said that their goal remained to serve the public with a well-focused, disciplined and well planned government.
He added that he will consider changes if and when there are areas where the government lags behind or is unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, speaking separately to Turkish state television TRT Haber, Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu said that Turkiye has always supported the TRNC.
He said that the close and good relations with Türkiye will continue during his term in office.
“Turkiye means everything for us. We are two states, one nation. We share the same destiny,” Sucuoğlu said, adding that the Turkish Cypriot peoples’ love and commitment to Turkiye was unquestionable.
Regarding the settlement of the Cyprus Problem, Prime Minister Sucuoğlu said that no progress had been achieved during 50 years of talks to reach a federal settlement.
“Our ultimate goal is to achieve recognition of the TRNC. A two-state solution is our unchangeable position,” he said.
