Prime Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu on Tuesday visited the Lefkoşa Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital.
Health Minister Ali Pilli and Chief Physician Adil Özyılkan accompanied the premier during the visit.
Inspecting the hospital and chatting with staff, the premier said the government was working to address the outstanding problems caused by the pandemic.
He noted that the world and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was slowly moving out of the pandemic.
“We aim to identify the problems being experienced in the field of health in order to return to our pre-pandemic days,” said Sucuoğlu.
Giving information regarding the new public hospitals that are planned to be built in the TRNC, Sucuoğlu stated that the protocol signed last week in Turkiye entails the allocation of funds for the construction of a 500-bed capacity hospital.
He added that if everything goes as planned the project for the hospital and the tender will be completed and the foundations will be laid before the end of this year.
Expressing that health was among the government’s top priorities, Prime Minister Sucuoğlu stated that despite the great difficulties experienced during the pandemic over the last two years, the government has managed the process well.
