Prime Minister Ünal Üstel has announced that working hours of public sector offices will be rearranged.
He also said that plans were underway to open a new crossing point for vehicles in Lefkoşa to ease traffic congestion at the checkpoints.
Speaking on a TV programme on Genç TV on Monday night, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said that work was underway to reorganise working hours at all government offices and public departments.
He said that the working hours will be rearranged to cater to the needs of the private sector.
Üstel also announced that efforts were underway to open a new vehicle crossing point in Lefkoşa, preferably in the Haspolat area.
“We have signed a protocol with the Economic Organisations Platform. It is the Greek Cypriot side which is causing the traffic congestion and queues forming at the crossing points,” he said.
The prime minister said that they had also discussed the issue of opening the Ledra Palace crossing point to vehicle traffic with President Ersin Tatar.
Regarding the new Ercan airport, Üstel said the new terminal and runway will be inaugurated on November 15, in line with celebrations marking the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
