The Director General of Turkish National Police Mehmet Aktaş was in the TRNC upon the invitation of his TRNC counterpart Police Director General Ahmet Soyalan.

The two and their respective delegations held a meeting during which issues concerning the police departments of the two countries were discussed as part of the framework of the Security Cooperation Protocol signed between the Republic of Turkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Operational cooperation between the police departments of the two countries regarding crime and criminals, as well as training, technical infrastructure and equipment were also discussed.

Emphasis was also made that cooperation will continue to increase between the police forces in the future as well.
