The Cyprus Turkish Centre for Political and Social Studies (SİTA) is holding its 1st Politics and Communication Summit at the Acapulco Hotel on Friday. Around 20 local and international speakers will be addressing the summit being held under the title “Politics and Communication in the New World.”
President Ersin Tatar who addressed the summit, noted that it was necessary to look at how society has evolved in order to shape the future of the country.
He added that the Turkish Cypriot people who survived through genocides and attacks had created a political structure which today has become the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Emphasizing that the future of the TRNC lies in the recognition of its sovereignty and its close relations with Türkiye, Tatar emphasized the importance of communication and using it correctly.
He also said that those in politics should take into consideration the interests of the people and the future of the country.
Referring to the 2004 Annan Plan in his speech, Tatar reminded that a false perception had been created back then that the UN sponsored plan was the best option for Turkish Cypriots but that time had shown this was not the case.
Highlighting the importance of listening to the public’s views when planning the future of a country, Tatar emphasized that the TRNC will become stronger with the support and contributions of motherland Türkiye.
