President Ersin Tatar sent a message expressing his support to activists who carried out a protest action in front of the Waltham Forest Council building in the UK.
In his message the president said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus flag is the symbol of the Turkish Cypriot people’s identity and sovereignty.
He expressed his support to the activities by saluting the protest action carried out by the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations in the UK who carried out the peaceful protest action against the racist action taken by Waltham Forest Council in removing and banning the Turkish Cypriot flag and insulting the community on the 15th of November which marked the TRNC’s Independence Day.
Drawing attention to the fact that the TRNC flag is the symbol of the identity and the sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people, Tatar pointed out that this action is a search for rights and justice and stated that the Turkish Cypriots, who came together in the cold weather, gave a message of their existence.
Noting that he fully supports the activists who are protecting the TRNC flag, Tatar said that it is admirable that they came together for such a meaningful purpose.
