President Ersin Tatar received Health Minister Ali Pilli on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments regarding the Covid-19 pandemic.

Briefed on the developments taking place in the health sector and the pandemic, President Tatar said that they also exchanged views with Pilli on the rapid rise in Covid-19 cases all over the world and South Cyprus.

Highlighting the importance of adhering to measures since the new Omicron variant spread much faster; Tatar called on the public to avoid crowded places and to carry out the necessary tests should they enter such venues.

The president also underlined the need to pay attention to wearing masks, social distancing and hygiene rules during New Year’s Eve celebrations in order not to experience a sudden rise in cases, just has been the case in South Cyprus.
