President Ersin Tatar has said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ (TRNC) potential had grown following the adoption of the two-state policy and the partial opening of the fenced-off town of Maraş.
Tatar also reminded that a solution in Cyprus can only be based on the cooperation of two states living side by side and sovereign equality.
President Ersin Tatar, who flew to the Turkish capital Ankara on Wednesday to hold a variety of contacts, was greeted with a military ceremony at Esenboğa Airport.
Shortly after his arrival in Ankara, President Tatar held his first meeting with business persons at the Türkiye-TRNC Chamber of Commerce Forum at a working dinner at the Twin Towers of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye.
In his speech, President Tatar highlighted the importance of such meetings in further developing the tight bond that existed between their respective countries.
Pointing out that the TRNC was an important location for investments that possessed Türkiye’s experience and access to finance, Tatar wished that ties and cooperation between the two countries would be further strengthened and the TRNC would achieve a more self-sufficient economy.
As part of his contacts in the Turkish capital on Wednesday, President Ersin Tatar also visited the Ankara Chamber of Industry.
Tatar, who met with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ankara Chamber of Industry Seyit Ardıç, also attended the assembly meeting.
In his speech, President Tatar stated that increasing production, achieving efficiency and updating technology were important goals that need to be achieved and added that the Turkish Cypriot people have been struggling for years to do just that.
Referring to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s historic speech at the UN, Tatar said that there can only be a solution based on cooperation between the two states living side by side and sovereign equality in Cyprus.
Stating that the TRNC is an inseparable part of the Turkish nation, Tatar said that they will make sure that the state they have established will exist forever.
