President Ersin Tatar received the members of the Higher Education, Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) on Monday.

Speaking during the visit, the President pointed to the development in the field of higher education over the years and said “the field of higher education is very important for the economy and promotion of the TRNC.”

Referring to the importance of large investments made by the universities and the sub-sectors developing as a result of these investments, he said the universities were in fact service exports.

Noting that YÖDAK and all partners have a great responsibility to manage the higher education sector, to continue to be successful and increase quality, Tatar reminded that the economy was adversely affected during the pandemic when there was no face to face education.

Stating that it was cultural diversity to have students from 144 different countries, the President said the TRNC was an education brand on an international scale.

Referring to the importance of supporting the success achieved in the higher education sector, he expressed the need for making legal arrangements for YÖDAK and protecting its infrastructure.
