Following the resignation of the National Unity Party, Democrat Party and Rebirth Party coalition government, President Ersin Tatar met with Parliamentary Speaker Önder Sennaroğlu and UBP leader Prime Minister Ersan Saner on Thursday and announced that he has accepted the government’s resignation.

Tatar also asked Prime Minister Saner to remain in office until a new government is formed.

“This is what our constitution demands so I have fulfilled my duty” said Tatar.

Noting that both the governments and the Parliament have responsibilities, the President said that some legislative work can continue to be carried out.

Reminding that early elections are already on the agenda, Tatar stated that with the resignation of the government, the early election date could be brought forward.
