President Ersin Tatar is meeting separately with political parties with seats in the Republic’s Assembly as part of efforts to form a new coalition government.

Tatar received the leader of the Social Democratic Party (TDP) Cemal Özyiğit on Wednesday morning as part of his meetings with leaders and representatives of the political parties.

Later he met with the leader of the Democrat Party (DP) Fikri Ataoğlu.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, TDP leader Cemal Özyiğit said that an early election should be held as soon as possible at the most appropriate date.

Ataoğlu speaking to reporters summarized the developments that took place in the last ten months.

He said that his party supported holding elections in late December and that a date should be set as soon as possible.

In the afternoon Tatar received the leader of the Rebirth Party (YDP) Erhan Arıklı.

Earlier on Tuesday, Tatar received officials from the National Unity Party (UBP), the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and the Peoples’ Party (HP).

Speaking to reporters after meeting with Tatar, the General Secretary of the UBP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu said that it had become necessary to hold early elections.

“The UBP is ready for early elections both psychologically and politically,” he added.

The leader of the CTP Tufan Erhürman said that they had proposed several dates for early elections, all of which had been rejected by the government.

The leader of the Peoples’ Party (HP) Kudret Özersay said that an early election should not be delayed any further and that a date should be set as soon as possible.

Also speaking to reporters after the meeting, President Ersin Tatar said that even though the current structure in parliament made it almost impossible to form a new government, dissolving parliament and holding early elections was his last choice.
