President Ersin Tatar on Wednesday received a delegation from the Manavgat Industrialists and Businesspersons’ Association.

Speaking during the visit paid to him, Tatar said that Turkiye always supported the Turkish Cypriot people and that it was their duty to strengthen the state even more, to make the TRNC a place where people can live with hope and without fear.

He said that there was a national struggle for existence in Cyprus and that the Turkish Cypriots were one of the two equal peoples on the island.

Pointing to the importance of sovereignty, Tatar stated that there could only be a political settlement on the island on the basis of two sovereign equal states that cooperate.

He added this could be achieved with the support of the Republic of Turkiye.

“There is a great interest for the Eastern Mediterranean, the region’s natural resources and its airspace. The Republic of Turkiye is a country that is constantly growing and strengthening and has always been together with the Turkish Cypriots. The growth of economic and social ties with Turkiye is also giving us strength. When the pandemic is over our economic and political relations will continue to develop,” President Tatar said.

Highlighting the importance of Turkiye’s support for the Turkish Cypriot peoples’ existence on the island, Tatar said that a new era had begun in Cyprus with the arrival of Turkish troops in 1974.

“The Turkish Cypriot people have gained its own sovereignty and the world has witnessed this,” the president added.

“Manavgat is a very valuable place for us. I hope our forests will never be destroyed again. I hereby convey my best wishes to the people of Manavat. Our mutual bond always gives us strength. I wish to manage the upcoming processes together and to continue our existence” President Ersin Tatar said.

Also speaking at the meeting the chairman of the board of directors of the association Mücahit Tatar gave information about the work being carried out by the association.
