President Ersin Tatar issued a message on Thursday to mark the occasion of the opening of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce’s (KTTO) Representation Office in London.

Tatar who expressed his disappointment for not being able to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new office after he had to cancel his trip to London due to domestic engagements, highlighted the importance of the opening.

He said that the representation office will be a turning point in developing relations between North Cyprus and the UK.

Tatar added that the office will help foster relations not only at a commercial level but also help strengthen the bond between Turkish Cypriots residing in the UK and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

“No doubt the chamber’s representation office in London will pave the way for numerous investments in our country by our fellow businessmen who have been successful in their endeavours in the UK,” he said.

The president pointed out that the political and economic conjuncture that has emerged after Brexit has made it essential to take economic, political and diplomatic steps.

“This office will help Turkish Cypriots carry out their economic activities more effectively and pursue new investments. It will help us make use of the opportunities that have emerged with Brexit,” he said.

Tatar concluded his message by congratulating the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and its chairman Turgay Deniz for undertaking the initiative to open a representation office in London, wishing the chamber all the best in its activities.
