President Ersin Tatar said on Sunday that the speech delivered by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Economic Cooperation Organization’s (ECO) Summit added strength to the Turkish Cypriot people.
Tatar thanked Erdoğan for his remarks regarding the recognition of the Turkish Cypriot people’s sovereign equality.
“While our solution model based on sovereign equality which we put forward in Geneva for the first time after it emerged that a federal solution is not a possible option in Cyprus is still on the agenda, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call to friendly and brother countries during his speech at the 15th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization supporting the solution vision of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus without prejudice gave us more strength,” President Tatar said.
President Erdoğan told the participants that the recognition of the Turkish Cypriot people’s sovereign equality and equal international status was a key for solution on the Cyprus issue, calling on the removal of the unjust embargoes imposed on the TRNC.
“President Erdoğan had become the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people during his addresses at the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly on September 22, 2021 and during the 8th Summit of Head of States of the Turkic Council held on November 12, 2021 stressing that motherland Turkey will always be by the side of the Turkish Cypriot people and the TRNC. I would kindly like to thank Mr. Erdoğan on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people for his endless support to the TRNC and the Turkish Cypriot people. The Turkish Cypriot people will continue to walk to the future with motherland Turkey” the President added.
