According to information given by the TRNC Presidency, President Tatar stressed that it was not easy to reach these days and that it was not possible to forget the heroism of the officers who fought to protect the Turkish Cypriot people during the years of struggle.

“We paid a great price, gave martyrs, experienced genocide, suffered and finally established a state, a republic. We will protect this republic until the end with the support of our motherland Türkiye” he said.

“History was written there, when Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called for the end to the embargoes and isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriots at the UN General Assembly in New York,” the president said, thanking Erdoğan who also called upon the international community to recognize the TRNC.

He said that history should not be forgotten and told, adding that they were resisting games played by the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo to unite the island to Greece.
