President Ersin Tatar who is in Türkiye preferred to travel there from Girne to Taşucu via ferry.
He said that sea travel was also an alternative.
Praising the opportunities of being able to travel to and from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) via air and sea, Tatar said the comfort of sea transportation had increased.
He added that he was delighted to be travelling from Girne to Taşucu together with other citizens via ferry.
President Ersin Tatar spoke to the TAK News Agency on the ferry while on his way to Mersin.
Stating that it was a two-and-a-half-hour journey, Tatar said that he preferred travelling to Mersin via ferry rather than by flying to Adana and passing on to Mersin via a road trip.
Reminding that there were two ferry services a week between Girne and İskenderun, Hatay, he added that ferry services will also start to and from Gazimağusa.
Referring to the increase in the cost of plane tickets all around the world, President Tatar expressed the hope that the prices will be reduced in time.
Stating that ferry tickets for İskenderun were half the cost of flight tickets, Tatar noted that there was a great interest in ferry services and that the occupancy rate was good.
Also referring to the ties between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Türkiye, President Tatar highlighted the importance of the Blue Homeland.
“The importance of this region is increasing,” he said.
