Secondary schools open after nine months
Date Added: 14 September 2021

Secondary school students returned to classrooms today, a day after primary schools reopened following a nine-month interruption in in-class education.

26,000 students returned to school on Tuesday morning at 34 public and 11 private schools, a total of 45 schools.  22,000 of the students are enrolled at ordinary secondary schools while 3,900 students are enrolled at vocational schools.

Students had their PCR or rapid tests checked at entry and students who failed to present one were not allowed entry.

Within the framework of Covid-19 measures, students aged 12 and above are required to repeat their rapid test every seven days.

While vaccinated staff and teachers at schools will have to undergo a rapid test every 14 days, unvaccinated staff or teachers will be required to undergo testing every seven days.

The health ministry will also be carrying out random testing at schools on a regular basis.
