The Speaker of Parliament Önder Sennaroğlu on Monday received a delegation from the Republican People’s Party Metropolitan Mayors of Turkey.

During the visit Sennaroğlu expressed his gratitude towards Turkey for supporting the national cause of the TRNC.

“It is important and pleasing that the four main party’s of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly are acting together for the TRNC’s national cause” said Sennaroğlu.

Expressing the hope that the visit will be fruitful in terms of establishing strong relations with TRNC municipalities, increasing cooperation and moving forward, Sennaroğlu also commemorated the late Bülent Ecevit and Necmettin Erbakan on this occasion.

“The Turkish Cypriot people, from the brink of extinction has come to the point of having its own state, thanks to Ecevit and Erbakan” Sucuoğlu said.

The CHP deputy chairman and Ordu MP Seyit Torun for his part said that the TRNC was Turkey’s national cause and added “we are two separate states but one nation.”

Torun said that they are aiming to further strengthen the mutual cooperation between the two countries and to evaluate joint projects.
