The Speaker of Parliament Önder Sennnaroğlu was among the state and government officials who received the Turkish Mukhtars Federation and the TRNC Mukhtars Union on Thursday.

Speaking first at the meeting, the Head of the Turkish Mukhtars Federation Ramazan Özinal stressed the importance of mukhtars of the two countries to act in unity and solidarity.

Özinal also added that the TRNC was never alone.

The Head of the TRNC Mukhtars Union Akay Darbaz for his part expressed his belief that the Turkish mukhtars visit will contribute to the cooperation between the two countries.

Also speaking, the Parliamentary Speaker Sennaroğlu noted that intensive contacts with Turkey at every level will further strengthen the close bond that exists between the two countries.

Sennaroğlu stressed that the visits of delegations from Turkey during these difficult times were a message to everyone.

Referring to the importance of local administrations for democracy, he said mukhtars performed a vital duty acting as a liaison between the public and municipalities or local administrations.

Noting that the visit of Turkish mukhtars will allow a mutual exchange of experiences, Sennaroğlu said “It is my duty to remind that our unity and solidarity is crucial for the protection of our rights and interests in the region.”
