Some Political parties and organisations evaluate fire
Date Added: 27 June 2022

Now that the wildfires that wrecked havoc last week have been extinguished, suggestions regarding on how to prevent such disasters in the future have started to emerge.

Some political parties and non-governmental organizations have made evaluations regarding how such disasters can be prevented.

The People’s Party (HP), the Union of the Chamber of Engineers and Architects and DAÜ-SEN (Eastern Mediterranean University’s Academic Personnel Union ) issued a statement regarding possible preventative measures they believe could be taken to prevent wildfires.

The Peoples’ Party (HP) called for no saplings to be planted in the newly burnt areas and for nature to be given time to renew itself on its own.

The Union of the Chamber of Engineers and Architects on the other hand called for the implementation of new legal regulations that entail heavy penalties for those who break the laws especially in forest and coastal areas.

DAÜ-SEN called for a planting campaign to be launched over the next two years and a ban to be introduced for hunting and picnics outside of homes for the next two years.

It also called for legal measures to be taken to prevent development projects in forest areas.
