Speaker of Parliament Töre in Ankara

Speaker of Parliament Zorlu Töre flew to the Turkish capital Ankara on Wednesday after receiving an invitation from the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop.

Töre’s visit to Ankara is his first official visit after being elected as the Speaker of Parliament.

Töre is being accompanied by the Parliamentary Bureau delegation which consists of the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Fazilet Özdenefe, administrative officer Yasemin Öztürk, members of the Parliamentary Bureau MP’s Alişan Şan, Hasan Küçük, Devrim Barçın and Şifa Çolakoğlu and the Executive Assistant Mustafa Çaluda.

Töre and his delegation will be visiting Anıtkabir, coming together with the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop and will hold a variety of contacts within the framework of his visit.

Making a statement at Ercan Airport prior to his departure, Zorlu Töre said that they as the government will always do everything they can to protect the existence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

“We can move this long-term struggle forward with the support of the Motherland” said Töre.

Explaining that they are carrying out their first official visit to Motherland Turkiye upon an invitation from his Turkish counterpart Mustafa Şentop, Töre said “Thank god there is motherland Turkiye. They recognize us and support the TRNC”.

“Hopefully in the new period, other countries will recognize the status of the TRNC and further steps will be taken. We always feel the support of the motherland Turkiye,” said Töre.
